2023 Wagoneer L Overview

The team at Jay Hatfield Dodge Chrysler Ram Jeep in Frontenac is excited to introduce the Wagoneer L, which is an extended-wheelbase version of the vehicle. Jeep has increased the wheelbase by 7 inches and the overall length by 12 inches, and that allows for more dedicated cargo space, more overall cargo space and more convenient third-row ingress and egress. In this 2023 Wagoneer L review, we’ll cover the three core trim levels, which are the Series I, Series II and Series III, along with the new Carbide option, which is a blacked-out appearance package that is available with all trim levels.

As mentioned in the introduction, the overall length of the Wagoneer is extended by a foot, which puts it just shy of 19 feet. Height, width and ground clearance are the same as the standard model at 75.6, 83.6 and 8.3 inches, respectively. There are seven monotone color schemes to choose from. The Series I package includes 18-inch alloy wheels and offers 20-inch wheels as an option. The Series II and Series III come with 20-inch wheels and give you the option of 22-inch polished wheels.

The 2023 Wagoneer L is similar to the standard model in that it offers two seating configurations: eight passengers in a 2-3-3 arrangement and seven passengers in a 2-2-3 arrangement. Eight-passenger seating is standard with the Series I and Series II models. Seven-passenger seating is optional with the Series II and standard with the Series III. The dedicated cargo space is 42 cubic feet as opposed to around 27 cubes in the standard model, and the overall cargo space available behind the third row is 131 cubes. The Series I has a 10.1-inch touchscreen and Capri leather seating in your choice of black or Sea Salt, which is a gray. The Series II and Series III trim levels upgrade the seating to Nappa leather.

Wagoneer L Mechanical specs

The 2023 Wagoneer L is available with either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. There are several 4x4 systems to choose from. The first is Quadra-Trac I, which is a full-time 4x4 system with the Selec-Terrain management system, which provides you five driving modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock. Quadra-Trac II is similar but includes a two-speed transfer case. The third option is Quadra-Drive II, which has an electronic limited-slip rear differential.

Jeep is introducing a new engine with the 2023 Wagoneer L. The Hurricane is a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with twin turbocharges. Jeep pairs it with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and this setup makes 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. There is also a high-output version of this engine that makes 510 hp. As of this writing, it is unknown whether the HO version will be available at launch, but it is expected to be an option with both the L and non-L Wagoneer models at some point.

The Uconnect 5 infotainment is standard across the board. All models have a 10.1-inch touchscreen with rearview monitoring, integrated navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, Android and Apple smartphone support and much more. Most of the driver aids available for the Wagoneer are included standard, such as frontal collision detection with automatic braking, blind-spot and rear cross-path monitoring, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, a head-up display and a 360-degree camera. The Convenience package is optional with the Series I and Series II and standard with the Series III. It adds a digital rearview mirror, driver attention monitoring, front cross-path monitoring, enhanced adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition and an infrared night vision camera.
